This was one word to describe our Showcase Evening 2011 last Tuesday. Our participating students were top notch from the standard of their dress to the polish on their shoes and on their instruments.
Who could not be proud of our music teachers, students and music families on the standards attained and instruction provided. There was so much shared pride in all that was presented. We thank all our parents for their support and patience in encouraging children to enjoy music. Also it was lovely to see the way that our Year 7 performing students were farewelled from our music faculty.
It was a night of celebration; awards and farewell played to a full house in our School Hall.
With different staging, more technology, added space and dressing rooms together with improved sound we had a superior product. The shining smiles and happy faces showed that the children loved to perform and especially to their loves ones. Our music teachers, Miss Plumridge, Mrs Eastgate and Mr Ryan were thrilled with the shared joy in the venue and they had a good time too.
We say thank you also to the staff members present who ensured calm and orderliness outside the hall and about areas of supervision.
Two highlights of the evening were the enthusiasm of the music teachers who obviously enjoy being with their players and singers; and the enjoyment the students seemed to be having as members of the various performance groups.
Kendall won the Rita Jensen Interhouse Music Trophy for music participation, now in its 10th year. This was the first ever win for Kendall House in this trophy award.
Collections at the door and in raffles totalled near $600. How busy were those greeters at the beginning of the night! Thanks to all donors of our raffle contributions. Congratulations to our prize winners who went home just that little bit happier than others. The music teachers went home with their presentation fruit baskets on behalf of our Parents and Citizens Association.
Thanks heaps for so many special touches and a polished event.
