Purpose

In accordance with the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, the cost of providing instruction, administration and facilities for the education of students enrolled at State schools who are Australian citizens or permanent residents, or children of Australian citizens or permanent residents, is met by the State. Parents are directly responsible for providing textbooks and other personal resources for their children while attending school. In recognition that these costs can be high, the school operates a Student Resource Scheme (the "scheme") that enables a parent to enter into an agreement with the school that, for a specified annual participation fee, provides for the use by the student of equipment and resources.

What is the Student Resource Scheme (SRS)?

As a service to assist parents with the cost of educational resources, Yeronga State School chooses to operate a student resource scheme (SRS). The SRS is a scheme that provides participants with a cost effective alternative to purchasing equipment and resources for student's use while attending school. This substantially reduces the financial burden to parents purchasing expensive resources. Our scheme is fully endorsed by the Benowa State High School Parents and Citizens Association.

At Yeronga State School, the SRS covers:

  • 1:1 iPad hire to buy scheme for students in Year 4 – Year 6
  • Hire of musical instruments
  • Purchase of sheet music for students who participate in the Instrumental Music Programme

A student resource scheme enables a parent to enter into a written agreement with the school that, in return for payment of a specified annual participation fee, provides for the participating student's temporary use of prescribed textbooks and other resources. The scheme is not to be used to raise funds for other purposes. Participation fees are to be directly applied to fund the service delivered by the scheme. The scheme provides the entire package for the specified participation fee, and is not available in part.

Participation in the SRS is voluntary. A parent who does not wish to join the scheme is responsible for providing the student with the items that would otherwise have been provided to the student by the scheme. If you do not wish to participate in the SRS, please indicate this on the Participation agreement form (PDF, 221KB).

The student resource scheme does not include:

  • Any voluntary financial contributions request to supplement the instruction, administration and facilities for the education of the student at the school
  • student internet access
  • resources funded by the state through appropriation funding to support the teaching of the Australian curriculum
  • optional school activities such as excursions, camps and performances
  • student classroom stationery

Yeronga State School has formed a partnership with SchoolStuff to supply all booklist stationery to students. The use of SchoolStuff is voluntary. Parents can choose to purchase items independently and bring them to school on the first day of Term 1.

Opting out

A parent who does not wish to join the scheme is responsible for providing the student with the items which would otherwise have been provided under the scheme to enable the student to engage with the curriculum.
