Gurumba bigi and welcome to our community at Yeronga State School.
Kalari means message stick in Jagera language, and was the name of Yeronga State School's newsletter in the 1980s. In 2019, volunteer parents formed the Kalari Group, to acknowledge and celebrate First Nation peoples' culture and history at Yeronga State School.
Kalari work with school staff to support activities during significant dates, such as National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week; build connections with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and communities; and incorporate Indigenous elements into Yeronga State School's curriculum and physical environment.
If you would like more information about the Kalari Group and how you can become involved, please email kalari@yerongass.eq.edu.au.
