Yeronga State School offers a wide range of extra curricular and co-curricular activities to support the social, academic and physical development of our children.  Some extra-curricular activities are subject to demand and resources. 
Information about extra-curricular activities is included in the morning notices, the newsletter, our website calendar and P&C meetings.
Activities are generally held before or after school. Some activities such as Optiminds and Maths Olympiad are held at lunch time.


Yeronga State School offers a wide range of extra-curricular sport including district and regional competitions, inter-school team sports and private tuition. For more information about the many activities offered click here.


Our extra-curricular music programs offer concert bands, string orchestras, choirs, African marimba groups, ukulele, world/folk music and private tuition in guitar, piano and singing. For more information about our extensive music program click here.

Chess Club

The school holds lessons and competitions throughout the year. 
These are held in the Resource Centre. Each term there is a block of 6 weekly lessons generally starting about the 3rd week of term.  Any interested student from Prep - Year 6 may attend.  There is a cost involved in these lessons to cover accredited chess coaches.  
Late in November a School Chess Tournament is held. Any student may nominate.  Year level champions as well as overall school champion are decided at this event.  More information here.
