​​​​​Prep Enrolments – 2027

Beginning school is an exciting milestone, and at our school we are committed to ensuring every child experiences a confident and positive start to their learning journey. Our Prep program is thoughtfully designed to support a smooth transition into school through purposeful play and other inquiry based learning experiences that build curiosity and independence.

Our extensive outdoor spaces provide rich opportunities for nature play and hands-on exploration, allowing children to learn through movement, creativity and connection with the environment. These experiences support social development, problem-solving and wellbeing, while laying strong foundations for lifelong learning.

We are proud of our highly successful systematic synthetic phonics program, which provides young learners with the skills and confidence to read and write from their earliest years. Alongside strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, students enjoy learning with our specialist teachers in Visual Arts, Health, Spanish and Physical Education—giving every child the opportunity to discover their interests, strengths and passions.

Learning in History, Geography and Science encourages students to develop collaborative and critical thinking skills as they explore the world around them. Underpinning all learning is our strong focus on building positive cultures for learning, where shared values, clear expectations and the explicit teaching of behaviour support every child to feel safe, supported and ready to succeed.

In Catchment Enrolment process​

In-catchment, we encourage you to send in your enrolment application as early as possible (once school starts) in the year prior to your child starting.  We do not accept enrolments more than a year ahead. Please use the enrolment form in the quick links menu to the right. Completed Enrolment form plus supporting documentation  can be emailed to enrolments@yerongass.eq.edu.au, or dropped in at the office.

• ​your child's birth certificate to be sighted, or a copy of their passport 
• proof of residency (electricity bill, drivers licence, tenancy agreement etc)
  
• recent past Report Cards
• Current passport & visa (where applicable - Non-Australian residents).
• Evidence of any medical conditions of which the school needs to be aware.
• Any official documentation relating to custody or family issues of which the school needs to be aware.
• Details of any specialist care given, e.g. speech therapy. ​

out-of-catchment Enrolment process 

For 2027 Prep entry, out-of-catchment EOI applications will open Tuesday 28 April 2026 at 8am.

we ask that you first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)application and you will be placed on a waiting list in order of receipt. Completed Enrolment or Expression of Interest Applications can be emailed to enrolments@yerongass.eq.edu.au, or dropped in at the office.​

If vacancies exist towards the end of that year, then places will be offered to those on the waiting list (strictly in order of receipt).  

Prep information session

Our Prep Orientation Morning is an opportunity for parents and children who are enrolled for 2026 to visit the school and experience our Prep classrooms.  This helps to ensure a smooth start to the new year.  

On the day, please make your way to the Prep area to collect Student name tag and find out which class your child has been assigned to. Students will spend the morning in their classroom, while parents are invited to attend an information session in the Hall.​
