Parent teacher communication

Parents and caregivers are able to interact with the school through:

  • parent-teacher interview  – term 1 and 3 each year
  • information and orientation sessions

Parents are asked not to engage teachers’ attention in consultation during class time (after 8.50 am to 3.00 pm), and during rehearsal time for teachers directing rehearsals (usually 7.30 am to 8.40 am).

Academic reports are sent home twice per year, in June and December.

Phone messages are distributed to teachers at various times in the school day.

The choice to use email is individual.  Teachers hold their own policy on the use of email as a communication tool, and make their position and expectations known at the start of each year.  Any email to school or teachers is to be used for official school purposes only.

All who communicate are expected to employ high standards of ‘netiquette’ and be:

  • respectful at all times
  • brief rather than long winded
  • factual rather than emotional
  • timely.

Patents and carers are asked to understand time limitations in a teacher’s day, and expect messages to take over 24 hours to be opened and responded to.
