At Yeronga State School, we believe learning is a journey of curiosity, growth and discovery. Guided by the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0, our Prep to Year 6 conceptual curriculum is built around the enduring themes of Belonging, Connection, Discovery and Contribution, providing students with meaningful opportunities to explore big ideas that connect learning across subjects and to the world around them.

Our approach combines explicit teaching with opportunities for students to develop curiosity and deep understanding. Through explicit instruction, teachers provide clear learning intentions, carefully sequenced lessons, guided practice and purposeful feedback to build the strong knowledge and skills every student needs for success.

As students develop these strong foundations, they are encouraged to think deeply, ask meaningful questions and make connections across their learning. Through rich learning experiences, students build deep knowledge of important concepts, investigate authentic problems and apply their understanding in meaningful ways. Students are supported to become thoughtful thinkers, effective communicators, capable researchers, responsible self-managers and active contributors to their learning communities.

We recognise that every learner brings unique strengths, experiences and perspectives. Through engaging learning experiences and high expectations, we empower students to become confident, compassionate and capable young people who embody our school motto of Service Before Self, making positive contributions to their community and beyond.
